7/9/2023 0 Comments Sydney opera house shells![]() ![]() The designs which were considered varied on the ideas of reinforced concrete ribs, however the main problem would come from the construction of the ribs due to the building of the shuttering being too complicated and using precast ribs being too expensive as the shape varied so widely. ![]() Many different geometry for the roof shape was considered by the engineers at Arup before a design which would represent Utzon vision and which would structurally work was discovered. Due to the difficult geometry of the roof shells and the design not being finalised, the project had to be altered several times from Utzon original design. Utzon created a design with overlapping roof silhouettes presented on different elevations, the building connected the city with the harbor and would be a sculpture embodying Australia and Sydney. ![]()
